eine kleine Bemerkung zwischendurch - a little remark in between

Seit meinem letzten Post ist es lange her. Viel hat sich verändert, anderes ist glücklicherweise geblieben, wie z. B. meine Leidenschaft für die Malerei. Deshalb geht es hier jetzt wieder weiter mit aus meiner Sicht interessanten Bildern und ab und zu einer Ausstellungsbeschreibung. It is a long time ago since I had postet last time. Many things changed, but others are like they were before, like my passion for painting for example. Therefore I want to continue now with for me interessting works and from time to time with describtions of exibitions.

Ich stelle aus - I exibit

Man könnte auch sagen, "The Making of an Exhibition". One could say "The making of an exibition"

Im Klinikum Coburg, Fachbereich Rehabilitation und Geriatrie, sind noch bis zum 02.07.10 45 Werke von mir zu sehen.

In the clinic in Coburg, department of rehabilitation and geriatric medicine 45 works of mine can be shown until July 2, 2010

Die Bandbreite reicht von realistisch bis abstrakt, von gross zu klein.

I will show realistic works as well as abstract ones, greater and smaller ones.

Es ist immer schön, eine Ausstellung vorzubereiten, aber irgendwie unheimlich anstrengend - auch, wenn man sich vornimmt, sich selbst keinen Stress zu machen. Es kommt meist (jedenfalls ist dies meine Erfahrung) anders als man denkt.

It is aways interessting and sometimes funny to prepare an exibition but this means a lot of stress too although one planes to make it cool without anything that could look like stress. It will always come different from the plans ( this is what I saw).

Man hat sein Konzept fertig, toll. Dann bekommt man das Angebot, eine grössere Ausstellungsfläche abzudecken. Auch schön - sehr schön sogar. Sein bisheriges Konzept kann man mittlerweile vergessen.

The concept for the exibition is ready. Great. I´m happy. Then the offer comes to show more paintings. Also great - really great. But one can forget the old concept.

Also muss ein neuer Titel für die Ausstellung her, neue und zusätzliche Werke müssen ausgesucht werden.

A new name for the exibition has to be found and more works had to be chosen.

Das kriegt man alles hin - irgendwie.

One can do it - somehow.

Danach geht es an die Einladungen. Eine entsprechende Liste hat ein Künstler meist - das Design für die Ausstellungseinladungen muss gemacht werden.

After this the invitations have to be made. A lis t of customers or interessted people most artists have - the design for nthe invitations has to be made.

Schön sollen sie aussehen, elegant (es sollen ja auch wichtige und hoffentlich kaufwillige Gäste kommen), übersichtlich - jedoch mit allen Infos versehen - und sie sollte schnell fertig sein. Funktioniert alles, wenn die Druckerei mitspielt.

They shall look nice, elegant (cause important and hopefully people who inclined to buy will come), clear arranged - but with all important messages - and the invitation should be ready soon. That´s ok, it will work. If the print shop will work as well and hopefully good.

Dann kommt der grosse Tag, die Bilder werden aufgehängt.

Das Auto vollgestopft (wie soll man durch dieses Chaos jemals durchkommen?), Bildbeschreibungen und Vita (schön laminiert und hoffentlich ohne Tippfehler) dabei und irgendwo (hoffentlich findet man das auch wieder) unter dem Bilderchaos im Auto müssten die Aufhänger liegen, ein Zollstock und die Wasserwaage. Vielleicht ist ein Notfallreparaturset für irgendwelche Probleme an Bildern und Collagen, die man eigentlich nie und nimmer haben will, nicht schlecht.

Then the great day will come on which the paintings should hang.

The car is more than full (how will I find anything in this chaos?), describtions of the paintings and my vita (everything hopefully without mistake and laminated) with me and somewhere (hopefully I will see or find it in this chaos in the car) should be hooks, folding rule and water level. Maybe it would be good to carry a little set for some miner damages at the paintings (which I hopefully will not see) with me.

Es geht los. 100 km bis zum Ausstellungsort. Mit Sondergenehmigung kann ich sogar nahe an der Tür parken. Nun müssen nur noch 45 Bilder wohlgeordnet auf 2 Stockwerke verteilt werden. Eine Hilfe (hier in Form eines starken Mannes) ist ausnehmend praktisch.

So I go. 100 km to the town where I will exibit. With a special permit I´m allowed to park my car very close to the entrance. Now I will only have to arrange the 45 paintings on 2 floors. Here is a little help (for what I have a strong man with me?) very comfortable.

Nun kommen die grossen und kleinen Nöte eines ausstellenden Malers. Wo sind zusätzliche Haken? Haben wir wirklich die Aufhänger dabei? Wo sind die denn nur? Hängt das Bild schief oder ist es die ganze Galerieleiste?

Dazu kommen die Kommentare des tätigen Helfers. "Warum hängt das bild hier und nicht dort? So,wie du die Bildbeschreibungen dazu hängst, geht das nicht! Das bild nhängt nicht schief, du schaust nicht richtig! Das ist aber teuer! Seltsam!". Und das bei jedem Bild. Da bin ich richtig froh, dass ich nur 45 Bilder habe.

Mittlerweile ist die anfängliche Harmonie einer gewissen Gereiztheit gewichen. Ausserdem macht das müde. Nach 6 langen Stunden Freude ist alles geschafft und wir schleichen mehr oder weniger zum Auto. Warum will mein Mann jetzt bloss die Besuchertreppe runterlotsen? Irgendwann ist man nur noch froh, den Heimweg zu schaffen.

Now the time has come for the greater and smaller problems of an exibiting painter.

Where are some more hooks? Where are my hooks? does the painting not hang exactly or is the whole band for hanging the paintings inclined?

Then the comments of the helper. "Why is this painting hanging here and not there? The way how you use the describtions of your paintings does not work! the painting does not hang inclined, you have to look better! Why is this painting so expensive? This is strange!". A great discussion about every painting. I´m happy I only have 45 and not more. Meanwhile the harmony from the start turned into bad temper. Moreover it will make one tired.

After 6 long hours of joy everything is done and we go very slowely to the car. Why does my husband want me to drive with the car over the stairs? Somehow I´m really happy to come home.

Dann der Tag, auf den man lange hingearbeitet hat. Nach der Frage, was man denn anziehen sollte (schliesslich kommt auch die Presse) und der Hoffnung, rechtzeitig fertig zu sein, komme ich in Begleitung meiner Familie am Ausstellungsort an. Schön, ich kann sehen, dass mehr als eine Person Vernissagepublikum gekommen sind. Alle sind sogar noch interessiert. Und die Presse belegt mich auch gleich mit Beschlag. Halten Sie das Bild in der Hand, dann sieht das Foto voller aus (und der Fotograf sucht sich zielsicher das grösste Bild der Ausstellung raus), stellen sie sich links, nein lieber rechts, natürlich lächeln und Danke. Der Vertreter der Konkurrenzzeitung ist auch nicht anders und das ganze wird anstrengend. Und schon werde ich gerufen. Die Vernissage soll beginnen - die Hauptperson (meine Wenigkeit) ist nicht momentan. Eine schöne Laudatio, einige (sehr wenige und hoffentlich verständliche) Worte von mir, Klavierspiel davor, dazwischen, danach und schon ist der offizielle Teil beendet. Das Publikum stürzt sich auf den Sekt und Zufriedenheit macht sich breit. Man lobt meine Bilder, sieht Motivationen oder Dinge in ihnen, an die ich bislang noch nie gedacht habe, denkt (hoffentlich) über einen Kauf nach und mein Lampenfieber wird langsam wieder weniger.

Then the day for which I worked so long is coming. The main question is what to dress. Press will come, make photos and I want to look good on them. In the hope to be in time I arrive at the exibition location. It is great to see that more than one person was coming to this vernissage. and it is even better to see these visitors are interessted. press tries to garnish me. They want an interview and make some photos. I love the photographer who had the talent to choose the greatest painting which I should hold in my hands for this photo. "hold the painting that way to make the photo more full (how will a viewer find me behind the painting?), go right, no turn left, keep smiling and thank you." andd the journalist from the other newspaper is not different. everything will become stress.

A responsible person calls me and I don´t hear it. she comes and looks angry. The exibition should be opened and I´m not there where I should be. a good laudation, some (hopefully) good words of mine, piano playing before, between and behind and the official part of the exibition has ended.

It is hot so people run to the champagne and everybody seems to be satisfied.

People like my paintings, see motivation and things in them of which I had never thought and think hopefully about a buy. My stage fright will become less.

Irgendwie wird es aber noch bis zum 2. Juli bleiben.

Dann Abhängen, Verpacken und hoffentlich superwenig Bilder wieder mitnehmen. Das wird garantiert noch von übergrosser Freude meinerseits begleitet sein.

In absehbarer Zeit geht wieder alles von vorne los. Bis zum Jahresende sind noch einige Ausstellungstermine bzw. -orte zu bedienen.

Somehow this stage fright will stay until July 2, until my exibition has ended.

Then taking down of the paintings, packing them again and hopefully less paintings in my car cause much is sold. Oh, I look forward to this day.

Time will come soon in which everything will start from the beginning. Until the end of this year I will have 3 more exibitions.

Winter Morning

Kälte und Schnee sind in diesem Jahr für viele Menschen hier ein wichtiges Thema.

Viel Schnee, teilweise sehr kalt und alles zieht sich hin.

Auch ich kann auf die weisse Pracht und die Kälte verzichten - im realen Leben.

Wenn man aber in einem warmen Zimmer Bilder von Schneelandschaften malen kann, ist das ganz schön.

Hier stelle ich "Winter Morning" vor. Eine verschneite und sichtlich kalte Landschaft irgendwo kurz nach Sonnenaufgang.

Coldness and snow are this year for much people somehow really important. There is really much snow, in parts it is colder than cold and the winter is long.

I don´t need this snow and coldness - in my real life.

But if i´m sitting in a warm room and if I can paint snow it will somehow be nice.

Here I introduce "winter Morning". A snowy and cold looking landscape somewhere a short time after dawn.

Bild Nr. 1 zeigt meinen Entwurf.

Einfach ohne viel Firlefanz sollte dieses Bild werden, aber es sollte positive Stimmung vermitteln.

Das geht sehr gut über die Farbwahl, wie man auf Bild 2 gut sehen kann. Es ist kalt, jedoch nicht unangenehm. Nur ist hier schon offensichtlich, dass ich manchmal Probleme habe, mich an eigene Vorgaben zu halten.

Picture no. 1 shows my sketch.

This painting should become somehow simple, without much things around but it also should look positive.

This I could make really good through the colours - like one can see on the second picture.

It is cold and frosty but somehow not uncomfortable.

But here I can see that I sometimes have difficulties to follow my own plans.

Bild Nr. 3 zeigt das fertige Bild.

Entgegen meinem Entwurf habe ich unten noch einige Hütten gemalt und auch die Landschaft ist nicht ganz so wie ich sie anfangs plante. Auch den Titel habe ich verändert nachdem der ursprüngliche Name für manche meiner Zeitgenossen etwas unverständlich war.

Aber mir gefällt das Bild. Dadurch oder damit kann ich fast (aber wirklich nur ansatzweise) kalte und schneereiche Winter lieben.

On picture no. 3 the painting is ready.

On my sketch are only some houses in the middle and the landscape is also different from the painting. And also the name of my work changed after some people had difficulties to understand it.

Through this painting it will nearly be possible (but only nearly!) to love cold winter with much snow.
